Westminister Theological Centre - Lecturer (in New Testament / Systematic Theology) and Director of Postgraduate Studies[]
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join WTC’s Senior Leadership Team as Lecturer (in New Testament / Systematic Theology) and Director of Postgraduate Studies, reporting to the Principal. The successful candidate will teach on both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and will be responsible for overseeing and developing the postgraduate programme. As a member of the academic team, they will help provide academic and educational leadership for the college, ensuring both high quality teaching in line with WTC’s values, and the smooth running of the academic year. The Lecturer (in New Testament / Systematic Theology) and Director of Postgraduate Studies will manage the Deputy Registrar, and will maintain strong relationships with the University of Chester, WTC’s validating body. They will help build and strengthen WTC networks with Hub churches, other churches and church networks, and with WTC donors. As a member of the Executive Team, they will help decide the direction of the college and expand our reach and curricula as we respond to the changing landscape of theological higher education.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in the New Testament or Systematic Theology. They will be able to demonstrate management and leadership experience within an academic sphere, with proven results in being able to work across a number of projects and areas, delivering results under pressure and on time. They will be spiritually mature and a team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate an ability to work flexibly in a fast-developing context. They will have excellent communication skills and be highly IT literate. This role is suited to an academic looking to work in a cutting edge theological college engaging primarily with the charismatic, independent church sector. This is a full-time role based in WTC’s Cheltenham offices. It will involve travel to Residentials, to support WTC Hubs and to build relationships with other partners.
Closing date for applications – midnight on Sunday 7th November 2021. First interviews will be held in Cheltenham in the week beginning 15th November 2021. Second interviews for those shortlisted will take place over a full day at the WTC Residential held at Nottingham University between 3-6th January 2022. (Date tbc). Start date 1st June 2022.
