- Once again, VAP who fits the description.
- Does anyone know what exactly "tenure-track instructor" means here? No other "instructors" are listed on their faculty page
- Not 100% sure, but my guess is "Instructor" is lower rank than "Assistant Professor" which might mean less pay, and the title also implies that the focus will be on teaching with no expectations for research to get tenure.

- OK, this is getting ridiculous. An excellent research and teaching record isn't enough? We must now all submit to the culture of WOKENESS.
- Diversity and inclusion statements are increasingly common, for good reason, but please feel free to tell them why you shouldn't have to be "woke" in your application.
- Guaranteed some bleach boy cis white male wrote this. Sorry but qualified POC, especially BLACK women, have been historically passed over for y'all in academia. Your patriarchal system of oppression is coming to an end. Trump lost and this is only the beginning. Pack your bags. It's our time. Cope.
- (1/22/2021) Has anyone heard anything yet?
- nothing here (1/22) (x3)
- 2-12 Anything?
- Nothing here. Was actually just coming here to ask the same thing... (2/12) x3
- (03/01) Has anybody heard anything? Or did they just cancel this search and not tell anyone?
- Haven't heard anything still. Just checked if there's hiring freeze, but apparently not (there was one last year, though). That doesn't mean the search didn't get cancelled, though, of course. Fingers crossed we hear something soon (3/1)
- Nothing here either, hope they tell us something soon!
- Emailed the search chair. The response: "This search is currently on hold due to budget constraints, but has not been cancelled. When we have more information we will reach out to all candidates."
- Thanks for sharing this! (3/5)

I havent heard anything. (April 8)

No idea. I can see in the application portal that it has been modified several times. It is also no longer on the UA job website, so I assume they have received enough applications and/or notified some people of long-listing.
Don’t panic. Review of applications is still underway (April 10).
Anyone end up hearing anything about this?

Still nothing (May 4) and I wasn't one of the x2 on April 25. Given that it's been eight weeks since the deadline, I wonder if it's safe to assume that the search has advanced and that none of us on the Wiki were shortlisted.
Also have not heard anything and not one of the x2 on April 25. It seems like there is an insider keeping an eye on this post. It would be nice to hear something about the search, either way.

- 3/22: Someone deleted this previous comment of mine. I doubt it means anything since they are one of the few institutions committed to transparency and communication during the hiring process.)
- 4/26: The posting is still open but it sounds like letters have been requested for a long list.
- 5/03: Received a rejection. Despite what the posting says, they are looking for someone who is classically trained in paleoanthropology.

- Does anyone know if this posting is rigged? There is currently a Visiting AP there who fits this description.
- I don't know for sure but given the posting date is incredibly close to the closing date I am inclined to believe it will probably go to that visiting AP eventually.
- I thought the same thing when I looked at the faculty listings on their site.
- While I also thought that, note that the date is actually just when REVIEW BEGINS, not when apps are closed. So it may just be that they are trying to move quickly with this later search. Regardless, it could go to the VAP &/or have 100+ applicants due to the lack of jobs.
- Virtual interview requested (11/16/20)
- Well, that was quick. Thanks for the update, since god knows I won't be formally rejected for months and it will be radio silence until then.
- Well, that was quick. Thanks for the update, since god knows I won't be formally rejected for months and it will be radio silence until then.
- Virtual job talk requested (11/21/20)
- Received email that search was concluded (01/04/21)
- $20 says it went to the internal candidate. Also how polite of them to only send rejections to people who interviewed. I'm getting so tired of these rigged searches and uncommunicative committees.

- Heads up that there is a lecturer at UNH with these exact qualifications. I contacted the department with some questions and tried to gauge whether it was an internal hire, especially since they are requiring letters upfront and it feels like virtually every posting this year has been for an internal hire and a complete waste of time. They are claiming it is an national search to expand their biological anthropology offerings but I'm not convinved. Also they said that they can request letters after the initial screening, so it doesn't seem like letters are actually required at the time of application.
- I was a bioanth lecturer there before (yes, I know my IP address is visible) and I was not treated well. I am sitting out this application, even though my qualifications are exactly as described.
- Can you elaborate? Was it the UNH climate, administration, anth faculty, etc? I'm trying to decide whether or not I should bother to apply (leaning towards no but trying to get as much info as possible).
- Without going into exact details (such as year of the incidents or what happened) for fear of potential retaliation, it was a combination of all those factors. UNH was doing a particularly concerted union busting effort at the time, and I'm glad they had not succeeded at that point, as I had to call on my union support to halt various actions against me that would have violated the rules/contract stipulations for lecturers. My efforts were *robustly* fought against by the then chair. When the administration determined that my contract was not up for renewal (which I was expecting--it was a one year contract), I did not object in the slightest. The current chair is not the person I worked under, and I actually like Dr. Harrison-Buck very much, but I would be surprised if the overall power structure, both internal to and outside of the department, had changed much.
- Wow that sounds like a nightmare! Thank you so much for letting me know.
- Rejection email 2/12/21
- (2/12) Invitation to Zoom interview from department chair received. x2
- Anyone heard anything after the Zoom interviews? (4/2)
- Heard it through the grapevine that campus visit was this past week.
- Bummer. Thanks for the update, though!

- looks like this posting is also written for a visiting lecturer already in the department. It seems like every posting this year is for an inside person. Sigh.
- I applied anyway. Partly because they asked for less materials than that U of Louisville job and it is relatively easy to prepare. Partly because this job ad is written in a less specific way so maybe we have a chance?
- ^^ me too with the same logic.
- Would be crazy if they hired the current lecturer.. NO RECORD
