The Committee on Ethnicity, Migration, Rights at Harvard University seeks applications for a Lecturer position in Latinx Studies with expertise in some combination of the following areas: comparative ethnic studies; intersections with Indigenous and/or Black studies; colonization and decolonization; migration and diaspora studies; and human rights. We are particularly interested in candidates whose courses would put multiple genres, disciplines, geographical areas, and/or historical periods in dialogue, situating ethnic, racial, and social dynamics in a transnational and global context.

The Lecturer will teach a 2:2 course load in a combination of lecture and seminar-style courses for primarily undergraduates. We are a growing program, and we seek a candidate who can actively contribute to the intellectual life and growth of EMR, including advising undergraduate students interested in Latinx Studies.

The department of American Ethnic Studies at the University of Washington invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Chicano/a/x/Latino/a/x Studies starting on September 16, 2024. American Ethnic Studies draws upon interdisciplinary, intersectional, comparative, and transnational frameworks to explore dynamic relations of race and power within the United States and larger diasporic and global contexts. The successful candidate is expected to produce and actively engage in public-facing scholarship to advance a rich and emerging field of scholarship, as well as to mentor a diverse student body.

The successful candidate will also teach comparative and ethnic-specific courses, including Chicano/a/x Studies 101 (Introduction to Chicano/a/x Studies). The teaching load consists of four courses per year, and tenure-track faculty have an annual service period of nine months (September 15 through June 16). The University of Washington is a large, urban, public, R1 university located at the heart of Seattle. All University of Washington faculty engage in research, teaching, and service.

Washington State Law requires that this ad list a binding salary range. The base salary range for this position will be $8,900 - $13,000 per month on a 9-month basis ($80,100 - $117,000 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Assistant Professor of Latinx Literatures & Cultures, TT, full time

The Department of English at the University of Texas at San Antonio seeks a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2024 in Latina/ o/ x Literatures and Cultures. Candidates may specialize in any aspect of Latina/ o/ x Literatures, preferably with an emphasis on the literatures of the U.S./ Mexico border; postcolonial/ decolonial theory; literary and cultural formations of Latinidad both regionally and globally; and/ or trans- and multi-disciplinary approaches to Latinx studies.  Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in English, Latinx or Chicanx Studies, or a related discipline by July 2024.  Candidates will be expected to contribute to multiple degree programs, including a robust Ph.D. program that offers students opportunities for advanced study and research in cross-cultural, transnational approaches to English language and literary studies, with coursework required in U.S. Latina/o literature and the theory and practice of teaching composition.  Our recently revised undergraduate curriculum includes required courses in postcolonial/ decolonial literature and theory and borders, race, and literature.  

UTSA is a leading public Hispanic-Serving, Carnegie Research One institution with the expectation of and support for a vigorous and ongoing research agenda.  Teaching load is 2/2 with opportunities for release time for research.  Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
