Boston University (Boston, MA) - Two-Year Visiting Assistant Professor of Emerging Media Studies (Deadline: None, Reviews begin 7/15/2022)

  • Job Description: The Boston University College of Communication invites applications for a two- year Visiting Assistant Professor of Emerging Media Studies position for the fall of 2022. The EMS program addresses social scientific aspects of new media with a particular focus on empirical analysis of data. We are looking for candidates who will be able to teach standard graduate courses in this area and who will enhance the intellectual and experiential diversity of our current faculty. The projected teaching load will be three courses per semester and will include teaching one or two sections of social statistics and research methodology. Elective course offerings in specialties are encouraged. Ideally, service would begin on August 25, 2022. This position is subject to budgetary approval.

  • Job Description: The Cathy Hughes School of Communications at Howard University in Washington, D.C. seeks outstanding candidates for a full-time, tenure track position at the rank of assistant professor. The appointment begins August 15, 2022. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the Strategic Communication sequence in the Department of Strategic, Legal, Management Communication (SLMC), such as Fundamentals of Public Relations, Introduction to Strategic Communications, Basic Public Relations, Advanced Public Relations Writing, and Public Affairs Management. Candidates will serve on committees and pursue research and/or creative work agendas. Candidate may also be asked to advise the department's D. Parke Gibson Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America as well as to teach graduate-level courses and serve on dissertation committees in the school's Communication, Culture and Media Studies PhD program. We seek candidates who will uphold the highest standards of teaching, scholarship and professional work practices as well as make strong and significant contributions to our diverse student body and campus climate. Candidates must have a PhD in-hand by July 1, 2022, in communication/media studies or a related field and demonstrate proficiency in a variety of communication and teaching perspectives, along with knowledge of contemporary communication theories and applications to the public relations industry.
