Position We invite applications for a tenure-track position in Asian American literature. Scholars with comparative or transnational approaches are especially encouraged to apply. Desirable secondary specializations include Creative Writing or Children's Literature. The appointee will be expected to teach a wide range of courses in all areas of the English major, both at the upper-division and graduate (M.A.) levels, as well as lower-division, introductory, and general education courses. Teaching assignments may include courses in Asian American literature, Asian literature, survey courses in American or Comparative Literature, and/or courses in Creative Writing or Children's Literature. Faculty generally teach 3 classes per semester. A reduced teaching load is provided for the first two years. Evidence of an active research program and high-quality teaching is required.
CSUF faculty are committed teacher/scholars who bring research and creative discovery to life for students in classrooms, labs, studios, and individually mentored projects. They teach broadly in the curricula of their departments, advise students, and serve on departmental and university-wide committees. The person in this position will also be responsible for producing scholarship / creative work commensurate with the requirements for tenure. Job Summary and Requirements: Denison University seeks to hire a tenure-track faculty member to further develop its new interdisciplinary program in Data Analytics to start in the Fall of 2020. Candidates must have earned a Ph. D. no later than August 2020, and have a broad and deep formal education in a humanities discipline and in data-driven approaches to research in that discipline. The successful applicant will be actively engaged in research that applies advanced data analytics techniques to significant literary, historical, philosophical, cultural, linguistic, or artistic inquiry. The successful applicant will also be committed to teaching undergraduate students in an interdisciplinary setting.
New hires are normally made at the rank of Assistant Professor, but hiring at an advanced rank may be possible with significant prior experience. We seek to hire an individual with deep and innovative background in the humanities and data analysis that is representative of the applied, interdisciplinary nature of Data Analytics. The candidate will have an opportunity to infuse quantitative and digital humanities examples into our curriculum, and to help raise the level of data-driven humanistic research, awareness, and integration at Denison and in the broader community.
Consequently, candidates for the position must have significant formal education in analytics, and actively engage in research that uses or develops advanced data analytics techniques. The ideal candidate will hold a Ph. D. in a humanities discipline or in a data science field, and their research should significantly emphasize data-driven techniques and quantitative approaches to questions within the humanities. Candidates must demonstrate successful teaching at the undergraduate level and a strong desire for pedagogical and curricular innovation within a liberal arts environment. We are seeking energetic self-starters who have a passion for bridging traditional disciplinary boundaries and an interest in linking the classroom to the wider faculty and community.
Teaching responsibilities will include core courses for the Data Analytics major (course specifics can be found at https://denison.edu/academics/data-analytics/courses), as well as the potential to design and teach courses in the candidate's data analytic specialty. The typical teaching load is 5 courses per year. The Data Analytics Program is growing rapidly at Denison, and is currently among the largest majors on campus, with more than 120 students. As interdisciplinary majors, all students choose a domain area in which to develop disciplinary knowledge in addition to the core Data Analytics skills. Thus, candidates will have an opportunity to creatively engage with students across broad demographic, academic, and career interests, to apply and connect their skill sets.

The Department of Comparative Literature at Koç University, Istanbul, invites applications for one or more full-time faculty positions (open-rank) to begin September 2020. We seek candidates with a comparatist research profile in one of the following areas:
- Late antique and medieval literature and culture
- Early modern Mediterranean literatures and culture; preference will be given to candidates with research specialization in Spanish literature and culture.
The successful candidate will have an active research agenda and demonstrable record of original research in the field. S/he is expected to engage in the intellectual life of our department with diverse geographical, theoretical, linguistic, and methodological interests, and to teach broadly on the Department’s curriculum as appropriate. Junior appointments are at the level of Assistant Professor and initially for a period of three years with opportunities for renewal and advancement. The Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures (MLLC) at the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in Arabic Language and Literatures or Cultural Studies, beginning September 1, 2020. Knowledge of the Eastern Mediterranean and modern Middle East from an interdisciplinary and/or comparative perspective strongly preferred. The Humanities Program at Davidson College invites applications for a three-year visiting assistant professor position in transnational studies or postcolonial studies, beginning July 1, 2020.
We wish to welcome a new colleague who has demonstrated experience or interest in first-year humanities programs, first-year seminar programs, or similar interdisciplinary, foundational collaborative teaching projects in the humanities. A PhD or in some cases an MFA in any cultural studies, history, literary studies, arts or performance studies, or a similar interdisciplinary or area studies program, with a focus on transnational or post-colonial topics, by July 2020 is required. We are especially interested in Africana studies, French and Francophone studies, Arab studies, music, musicology, ethnomusicology, theatre, or art history, though we welcome all teachers and scholars in all humanities fields. The teaching load is five course-equivalents over two semesters: two semesters teaching in the Humanities Program (which is a 1.5 course load per semester) and one course each semester in another department or program in the candidate’s areas of specialization. Verto Education - Field Instructor, World Literature[]

Join Verto Education as an World Literature Instructor in the South Pacific, Hawaii or Latin America for three months. Compensation includes salary, housing, insurance, some meals, and all travel expenses related to the position.
Verto Education’s University Programs make starting college the adventure of a lifetime for first year students. We offer six different semesters options in addition to a year-long honors program. All semesters deliver serious academics in remarkable overseas locations blending coursework with experiential learning.
Through Verto, students can study abroad for their first semester or year of their undergraduate career, while still earning college credits to keep them on track to graduate in four years. Verto courses transfer seamlessly to over 46 partner universities, including top 50 academic institutions like Case Western Reserve University and William & Mary.
As a Verto Field Instructor, you will bring the course alive for students through a dynamic combination of classroom instruction and experiential field work. This course is a three credit “block” course taught in 4 week increments to 3 separate cohorts of students (1-2 cohorts each month for up to three months). Each cohort has a maximum of 25 students.
Before the semester begins, you will meet with Vero Education’s Course Director to discuss the syllabus and learning outcomes in addition to attending a staff training.
High-level syllabi are designed by Course Directors and approved by our school of record, Richard Bland College, but there should be opportunity for collaboration on how the course comes together in the program location. This would include meeting virtually with the Course Director and our in-country partners to discuss the hands-on projects, arranged expert guest speakers sessions, and community-based initiatives that will form the experiential portion of the course.
During the semester you’ll teach in a classroom setting (though not a typical one!) and accompany your students on excursions designed to connect to course content. You’ll meet with the Course Director bi-weekly to discuss cohort progress and resolve any challenges that might arise. Your Course Director will help ensure unity across instructors, offer feedback and coaching, and provide course materials to ease the burden of preparing for class while in the field.
While this position is an academic position, the ideal candidate will be a team player, ready and willing to jump in and assist where necessary to support students.
Course Description:
World Literature
The Contemporary World Literature course is a survey of texts exploring themes relevant to Verto students as they immerse themselves in their experience abroad. It includes travel writing from around the world, literature of the country students are studying in, and literature of global diaspora groups. Students will examine both form and content, improve their ability to critique a diverse body of literature, and develop more effective written communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Provide an engaging classroom experience through a combination of lectures and structured academic activities.
- Engage with students and help them connect the coursework to what they are experiencing in the field.
- Collaborate with a dynamic team of Program Leaders, Field Instructors, Academic Success Coordinators, Regional Managers, and in country partners.
- Facilitate coursework in compliance with credit requirements as set by the Course Director.
- Maintain flexibility with curriculum as dictated by a changing travel itinerary.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with Verto students, staff, and community partners.
- Evaluate students’ course submissions, provide ongoing feedback, and assessment of students’ mastery of course objectives. Verto uses Canvas as our LMS.
- Work closely with other Field Instructors and Academic Success Coordinators to support students with accommodations and all students as they navigate potential challenges of a traveling program.

- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in college-level classroom teaching.
- A demonstrated record of teaching excellence and ability to work with undergraduate students in a close student/faculty relationship.
- Experience delivering a curriculum and facilitating experiential education with proven success.
- Experience living or working in the countries on the itinerary is preferred.
- Must be 24 years of age or older by February 1, 2021.
- Ability to attend Verto training in February.
- Ability to be on a Verto program from mid-February to early May.
Work and Environmental Conditions
- This position is based in a remote setting. Instructors may be required to live in close quarters with other instructors such as in a shared apartment.
- You’ll be expected to attend occasional overnight trips with students where your living accommodations and schedule may differ from typical conditions.
- The work pace is continually fast-paced and work is required for more than 4 hours at time.
- Due to the nature of this position, there is low in-person supervision from managers.
- Travel is required up to 100% of the time.
- The environment in which the job is performed outside may include exposure to extreme temperature, noise, heights, or other hazards.
