The Department of World Languages and Literatures at Boston University invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in premodern Chinese Literature before 1911, to begin July 1, 2023. A Ph.D. in Chinese Literature, Comparative Literature, or a related field must be completed by the time of employment. We are interested in candidates with a strong foundation in classical Chinese literature and Literary Sinitic and innovative approaches to critical Asian humanities, including but not limited to intellectual history, gender/sexuality studies, material culture, translation, visual arts, popular culture, literary theory, and comparative literature. At Boston University, the successful candidate will join a vibrant faculty community in East Asian literature, comparative literature, and interdisciplinary Asian studies. We expect a publishing record, significant teaching experience, and a willingness to participate actively in student advising.
