College of St. Benedict/St. John's Univ. (MN): Asst. Prof. Environmental Studies (Nov.1)

The Environmental Studies Department at The College of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in fall 2017. Ph.D. in an interdisciplinary social science, environmental studies, or a related field preferred (ABD considered). Undergraduate teaching experience required. Preference will be given to candidates with training in interdisciplinary social sciences and expertise in energy and society. Teaching assignments will include shared responsibility for required courses in the environmental studies major and new upper-division courses on energy and society, the global transition to sustainability, or related topics in the candidate's areas of expertise supporting the Environmental Studies curriculum as appropriate. The ability to contribute to institutional UNFCCC/climate studies initiatives is also desirable. Applicants should be willing to direct undergraduate research, integrate campus and local sustainability issues into their teaching, and contribute to the institutions' Common Curriculum.

Saint John's University, a liberal arts college for men, and the College of Saint Benedict, a liberal arts college for women, are located four miles apart in Central Minnesota just outside St. Cloud and 70 miles from Minneapolis. University of San Francisco (CA): Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies (Oct. 4)

The University of San Francisco invites applications for a tenure-track position in Environmental Studies at the Assistant Professor level (pending budgetary approval) beginning in August 2017. The Environmental Studies Program (ENVA) is a dynamic interdisciplinary program that integrates scientific understanding with cultural, behavioral, political, and ethical perspectives to prepare students to work towards an environmentally sustainable, equitable, and just future. The successful candidate is expected to teach a number of required courses and electives in the program, and play a significant role in the development and leadership of Environmental Studies at USF.

Amherst College (MA): Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies (Environmental Policy) (Sept. 15)

The Department of Environmental Studies at Amherst College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in the area of environmental policy.  Given Amherst College’s commitment to cultivating a challenging and inclusive educational environment, we seek candidates who can teach, mentor, and inspire students of different sexual orientations, genders, races, ethnicities, nationalities, religions, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The start date for the position is July 1, 2017.  The successful candidate will teach a core course in environmental policy, courses in his or her area of specialization (environmental policy, environmental law, environmental justice), and occasionally participate in the team-taught introductory and/or senior capstone courses in environmental studies. The successful candidate is expected to establish a high quality research program analyzing national or international environmental policy, as well as mentor honors students. A Ph.D. or comparable terminal degree is required.
