Texas State University, (USA: TX) TT Assistant Professor of Public History and Documentary Film[]
The Department of History at Texas State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Public History with a focus on documentary film (regional and period specialization open). The successful candidate will contribute to a thriving Public History Program and to the Film Studies minor in the College of Liberal Arts. Active participation in departmental programs, service, and governance will be expected of the successful candidate. The successful candidate will be expected to teach upper-division undergraduate and graduate courses in documentary film making and/or the history of documentary film, direct theses and serve on graduate committees, and teach history survey courses in their area of expertise (US or Western/World Civilizations).
- A PhD in History or related field (such as Public History, Cultural Studies, American Studies, Cinema or Film Studies, Media Studies, Anthropology, or Art History) is required by the time of appointment.
- (The candidate must be able to teach courses on documentary film and a history survey course in their area of expertise. Candidates must also demonstrate an active research agenda).
- Preference will be given to scholars with experience in film production and a record of scholarship that complements the strengths of the History Department.

Tenure-Track Assistant Professor
The Baylor University Department of Film & Digital Media seeks a candidate for Assistant Professor who has substantial experience producing films. Experience producing projects in other areas of entertainment media such as serials, video games or podcasts is also a plus.
Research/Scholarship specializations: Candidate must be well trained in producing, understanding a range of techniques and approaches relevant to the field today. The successful applicant will be an active filmmaker, making original contributions to narrative filmmaking, presenting contemporary storytelling from an individual perspective, with a record of success at film festivals and/or in distribution. Candidates must be artists demonstrating the potential to establish a significant track record of creative activity including exhibitions and professional involvement in the field at the national and international levels.
Teaching specializations: Candidates need to be qualified to teach across the department’s curriculum, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful applicant will have demonstrable skills within the core aspects of filmmaking at all stages. It is expected that they will demonstrate mastery of the principles of cinematic storytelling and be able to mentor students as they form their own unique creative voice.
The successful applicant will be expected to work with MFA students in coursework and through serving on their committees, which would include serving as Thesis Committee Chair for some students.
With more than 150 undergraduate majors, the Department of Film & Digital Media offers coursework leading to the B.A. in Film & Digital Media, with a strong emphasis in media production, but also with areas of specialization in writing, film theory, advanced digital technologies, and media effects. The Film & Digital Media faculty prides itself on excellence in teaching and research/creative scholarship as well as a collegial work environment. The department also offers a cutting-edge M.F.A. program focused on writing and directing cinematic narratives.
An M.F.A. or Ph.D. in an appropriate field of study is required. You will be asked to provide a letter of interest; current curriculum vitae; a copy of an official transcript showing the highest degree conferred, and a list of three references with contact information. If the Ph.D. or M.F.A. is in progress, a copy of the official transcript of completed hours should also be submitted.
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
