Northwestern Oklahoma State University: Tenure-Track. Open Until Filled.   • Graduate degree from an accredited college or university in English literature, Translation, Rhetoric/Composition, Journalism or a related field.

  • Candidates with a focus on Translation should have a demonstrated ability to translate between English, Arabic, and at least one dialect of Kurdish: our translation courses require instructors with ability to teach both Arabic and Kurdish speakers.
  • Native or near native fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Prior teaching experience, especially in liberal arts core composition courses.
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching.

  • Description: The English faculty member will teach various courses in the department, including first year composition and other English courses in writing as needed. These courses may include journalism, technical writing, public relations, and other courses based on faculty expertise and departmental needs. The faculty member in this position serves as the academic advisor to the student newspaper, The Mount Observer, and is responsible for managing its production and publication. The faculty member will actively support the department's degree track in Professional Writing. The faculty should be committed to using active learning strategies and student engagement. The faculty member will possess excellent writing and communication skills, academic credentials, technological proficiency, and the expertise to provide students in programs across the college with excellent writing instruction. A background in journalism, public relations, and/or professional writing is preferred.

    • Must hold  MA, MFA, or PhD degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, or Writing Studies;
    • Three years of teaching experience at the college level;
    • Knowledge of education methods; and
    • Proficient in oral and written communication.

  • 3/3 - I had an interview on 2/26....Haven't heard anything about campus visits... 3/8 me neither. They said early March for campus visits. Must have already contacted people. 3/8 oh interesting, that is helpful to know...they told me they would be in contact "in March," so I had vaguer sense of the timeline. I agree that they have probably already moved forward. 3/8 Sad face, sad face.
