Lancaster Univeristy (UK) - Lectureship in Sustainability

Lancaster University is pleased to announce a full-time, research-focused post (equivalent to Assistant Professor) to tackle this very question, as part of the new Pentland Centre for Sustainability.  We welcome applications from excellent candidates in sustainability and business management and/or organisation theory, with a passion for corporate sustainability and ethical supply chains. The successful applicant will work closely with the Rubin Chair to build the vision of the Pentland Centre and collectively create provocative research and outreach on sustainability. Santa Clara University (CA) - TT Assistant Professor in Environment Studies and Sciences (Oct. 1)

The Department of Environmental Studies and Sciences at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit, Catholic University, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Environmental Studies, with a focus in sustainable urban planning to begin in Fall 2016. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Planning, Geography, Environmental Studies or a closely related field with an emphasis on sustainable urban and regional development. The successful candidate will have: a research plan with clear opportunities to involve undergraduates, demonstrated ability to conduct externally funded research, and evidence of excellent undergraduate teaching. Postdoctoral experience is preferred. Desired research areas include: water resources, transportation, pollution, environmental justice, urban and regional change, or energy. We are especially interested in candidates who use quantitative and mixed methods, and regularly work with the analysis of large complex datasets. Teaching responsibilities will include Sustainable Urban Planning, Introduction to GIS, either Environmental Politics and Policy or World Geography, and other courses that are congruent with the candidate’s expertise. Texas Christian University (TX) - TT Assistant Professor in Geography (Nov. 1)

The Department of History and Geography at Texas Christian University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in human-environment interaction to commence in August 2016. A PhD in Geography is required by the time of appointment. The successful candidate will join a new Department of Geography to be established at TCU in 2016. Teaching responsibilities will include an introductory course in world regional geography as well as advanced courses in the candidate's area of expertise. West Virginia University (WV) - TT Assistant Professor in Geography - Human Dimensions of Water (Sept. 15)

The Department of Geology and Geography at West Virginia University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor of Geography in Human Dimensions of Water. We seek a dynamic researcher in freshwater resources with a strong theoretical background in the social sciences. Areas of expertise may include, but are not limited to, water governance, conservation, public health, environmental justice, energy, climate change, livelihoods, vulnerability, community and regional planning, or hydro-politics. We seek a scholar capable of developing an independent research program who is also willing to collaborate with scholars across disciplines (i.e. environmental sciences, health, engineering, and law). The Department of Geography at South Dakota State University seeks applications for two full-time, tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level to support its core emphasis on sustainability. One position will focus on physical geography and the other on urban geography. We expect both individuals to integrate Geographic Information Sciences into teaching and research for the department's active undergraduate and MS program. These individuals should also be able to contribute to SDSU's new Community and Regional Planning program. Candidates also will provide evidence of a high quality, independent research capability, and be committed to securing external funding. Both positions will begin August 22, 2016. Franklin and Marshall College (PA) - TT Asst. Professor - Environmental Studies (Sept 30, 2015)

The Franklin & Marshall Department of Earth and Environment invites applications for a tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor or Instructor of Environmental Studies, depending on qualifications, beginning in July 2016. We are particularly interested in applicants in environmental resources and management, with training in an environmentally relevant social science field of geography, political science, public policy, or other closely related disciplines. The candidate should have an active research program in an area of broad interest in a liberal arts college environment, such as energy, water, climate, food, sustainability, natural resource management, environmental justice, or development, but the department is seeking the strongest candidate in any environmental studies specialty that supplements departmental strengths. We seek applicants with an integrative understanding of concepts and methods from diverse social science disciplines, who take an interdisciplinary approach to society-environment interactions. The successful candidate will join a department comprised of both natural and social scientists in an interdisciplinary teaching and research environment.

This position will teach the following undergraduate courses in the Environmental Studies major: a core introductory course, a mid-level environmental management course, a senior seminar for Environmental Studies majors, and mid- or upper-level courses in the applicant's specialty. Teaching will also include participation in the College's general education "Connections" program. Teaching load is 3/2.

Applicants should possess or be close to completing a doctorate (or Ph. D.) Teaching experience and an ongoing program of scholarly research involving undergraduates where this is possible and appropriate are required. 3-year Postdoc on Refugees in Germany @ Max Planck Institute for the Study of Relgious and Ethnic Diversity (16 NOV 2015)

The Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity (Department for Socio-Cultural Diversity) wishes to appoint a researcher at the postdoctoral level to develop and undertake a new project with Institute colleagues concerning the current refugee influx and its implications in Germany. Overall, the project will contribute to our understanding of forms and consequences of the diversification of migrant and local populations by way of ethnicity and nationality, religion, age, gender and legal status. Aspects of the research project might include: responses among local and other state authorities, the nature of voluntary engagement, the range of refugee experiences, and interactions between and among refugees and local residents.
