The Department of Occupational Therapy at Eastern Washington University (Spokane campus) invites applicant candidates for a full-time, 9-month faculty position (tenure track). We are looking for individuals with experience in working in pediatrics, geriatrics, and/or neurorehabilitation settings, and with a background in rural practice, leadership and management, and/or assistive technology. The Department of Occupational Therapy at Eastern Washington University was recently awarded a 10-year accreditation by the Accreditation Council on Occupational Therapy Education. We are situated within the new College of Health Science and Public Health (CHSPH) and operates in a new and well-equipped campus in the University District near downtown Spokane, Washington. The Department of Anthropology at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) invites applications for a teaching-stream appointment in Global Health and Human Biology. The successful candidate will be part of the Health Studies program. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream and will commence on July 1, 2017.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Human Biology, Biological/Evolutionary Anthropology, or another relevant discipline by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter. Candidates must be able and willing to teach large undergraduate introductory core courses, as well as smaller mid and upper-level courses in their area of expertise. In particular, the successful candidate should be prepared to teach a core course in the biological determinants of health and disease, as well as mid-level courses in infectious and communicable diseases, and chronic diseases. Possible areas of expertise for upper-level courses might include: globalization and its impact on diet, food security, and nutrition; climate change, the human-insect interface, and vector-borne disease; or ethnic conflict, stress, and immune response. Although these examples are diverse, they are intended to illustrate our desire to find an instructor who can convey to undergraduate students with passion and precision how urgent global issues impact human health through specific biological mechanisms. The ability to teach a broad-based, introductory lecture class in health research methods (qualitative and quantitative) is also desirable.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and to becoming a leader in enhancing undergraduate education in Health Studies at UTSC. Health Studies, currently located in the Department of Anthropology, is a growing and interdisciplinary program whose faculty come from a wide range of disciplinary backgrounds, including public health, sociology, literature, anthropology, and environmental science. Candidates should be comfortable working in a highly interdisciplinary environment and should be able to convey to students the importance of interdisciplinary approaches to understanding human health issues.
Candidates must have a record of excellence in teaching, which can be demonstrated through excellent course evaluations, a coherent statement of teaching philosophy that is linked to evidence of excellent pedagogical practices, strong endorsements from referees, teaching accomplishments highlighted as part of the application, teaching evaluations, and/or syllabi, as well as the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application.

University of Washington (WA) - Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, Global Health[]
The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation and the Department of Global Health within the School of Medicine and the School of Public Health at the University of Washington are recruiting to fill several (up to two) full-time and/or part-time faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor without tenure level.
The faculty will become part of the Tobacco Data Team at IHME, a new team created with funding from Bloomberg Philanthropies. The successful applicants will have an MD or PhD in epidemiology, population health, biostatistics, health informatics, health economics, health policy, or foreign equivalent in a related field. The successful applicant will have a proven record of quantitative research in a health-related field and will have at least ten years' experience studying the effects of tobacco use on health.
Incumbents will be responsible for guiding the Tobacco Data Team and driving the intellectual content required to derive burden of disease estimates related to tobacco use and evaluation of policies aimed to reduce use of and burden of disease attributable to tobacco. The incumbent will engage with the broader tobacco control network and will complement and advance the work of measuring tobacco use and burden, as well as the effects of tobacco control policies and interventions.
The incumbent will guide staff members in strengthening IHME's relationships with existing collaborators, expanding IHME's network of collaborators, and interacting with funders to build the network of research related to tobacco usage.
This task will include bridging work undertaken by the Bloomberg global tobacco partners with IHME's cutting edge burden of disease methodology in order to improve burden of disease estimates through improved access to data and methods used to estimate burden. These efforts will aid more rigorous evaluation of the effect of tobacco control measures on tobacco-related health outcomes across populations. The incumbent should be able to both generate the results and critique them in light of trends in the available data and epidemiological and clinical assumptions where appropriate, determine whether adjustments to models or model assumptions should be made, and finalize results in consultation with other faculty. The incumbent will be expected to present the results both internally and externally and to contribute to appropriate peer-reviewed journal articles and policy reports pertaining to them.
Faculty members will also take on an important leadership role in guiding their research team and in mentoring pre-doctoral and post-doctoral fellows working in the field of health metrics.
