College of Charleston - Tenure Track in International Studies - Deadline January 31, 2021[]

The College of Charleston’s School of Languages, Cultures and World Affairs (LCWA) invites applications for a position as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of International Studies to begin August 16, 2021. The International Studies program is interested in candidates whose teaching and research focus on human rights and/or race and ethnicity. Candidates who employ transnational and interdisciplinary perspectives in their research and teaching and who specialize in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) or East Asia are particularly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate must be able to teach our International Studies introductory course as well as the major’s Cross-Regional International Studies course and would ideally contribute to one or more concentrations in the major. An earned PhD in International Studies or related fields (including but not limited to Anthropology, Area Studies, Geography, History, Political Science, Sociology, Urban Studies, and Gender and Sexuality Studies) by August 15, 2021 is required. ABD candidates with degree completion expected by August 15, 2021 will be considered.

anyone heard anything about this one? (x2)

any updates?

I inquired yesterday and that is the response I have received from the search chair: "We have requested additional materials from candidates whose applications we have moved forward for a first round of interviews. While your file was not among those we selected for this first round, we are keeping all applicant files open for further consideration until we extend an offer to a finalist." ... Hope this helps!

Oh that is good to know, thank you!

  • 3/19 - my referees received letter requests. I guess the pool is still open.
  • Same here. Not sure what is going on with this search.
  • I emailed them and was told that this was a technical glitch and letter requests were sent out erroneously. Hope this helps.
