Concordia University, Montreal, School of Canadian Irish Studies - Asst. Prof, Irish Performance Studies[]
The School of Canadian Irish Studies (SCIS) at Concordia University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Irish Performance Studies. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in Irish theatre, film, and/or other domains of performance studies such as dance, music or visual and media culture. She/he may also have a demonstrable profile in performance practice or research-creation, and in engaging student, community, and/or popular audiences. The candidate must have a completed PhD or equivalent, a multidisciplinary approach to his/her own field and to Irish Studies as a whole, a strong publication record, and evidence of teaching excellence. Administrative experience and community outreach are additional assets.
The School of Canadian Irish Studies currently offers Minor and Certificate programs in Canadian Irish Studies, with a new Major set to commence in 2012-13. Additionally, faculty members in the SCIS advise and/or supervise MA and PhD students in several cross-departmental and interdisciplinary graduate program contexts. Beyond our formal academic programs, the SCIS sponsors a prestigious annual lecture series, hosts Visiting Scholars, provides scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students, presents an Irish Studies Seminar Series, organizes various community-outreach events, supports the publication of the Canadian Journal of Irish Studies, and organizes international conferences and symposia (e.g. the 2011 CAIS and 2012 IASIL).

We seek a candidate who specializes in any area of British and/or Irish literature from 1940 to the present.
The ideal candidate would be able to teach a range of courses in literature and contribute to the department's collaborative research and teaching centers and initiatives, especially the department's Center on Modern Literature, Materialism, and Aesthetics and its associated undergraduate specialization. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research includes the study of space and urban culture, consumer culture, and visual studies in the context of modernist, postmodern and Anglophone literatures. Position effective July 1, 2013. Ph.D. required at the time of appointment.

The Department of English at the University of Toronto, St George campus, invites applications for a tenure-stream appointment in the field of Twentieth-Century British and Irish Literature. Research and teaching interests in both modern and contemporary literature are desired. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and will begin on July 1, 2013. Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in a related field by July 1, 2013 or soon thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and research. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
