Baruch College (CUNY) - Russian/Eastern European/Jewish History[]

  • The Department of History at Baruch College of the City University of New York invites applicants for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Russian and/or Eastern European history to begin August 2013. Specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates whose research focuses on the history of Jews from these regions, especially with attention to the Jewish diaspora and immigration to New York. Ability to teach a course on the Holocaust is also desirable. Brooklyn College -- Asst Prof. Late Antiquity and Rabbinics[]

City College of New York (CUNY), Michael and Irene Ross Chair in Hebrew and Yiddish (Associate or Full Professor) AND Tenure Track Assistant or Tenured Associate Professor[]

  • The Division of Humanities and Arts at The City College (CCNY) of the City University of New York (CUNY) announces a major expansion of its Jewish Studies program, aided by a generous gift from Michael and Irene Ross. We invite applications for two positions: a senior hire (Associate or Full Professor) for the Michael and Irene Ross Chair in Hebrew and Yiddish and a tenure-track Assistant Professor or tenured Associate Professor. The successful candidates may represent any discipline or field connected to Jewish Studies; the faculty appointment will be to the appropriate department.   • Fordham University, Department of Theology, invites applications for a tenure-track position, beginning Fall 2013, at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the field of classical or medieval Judaism, with expertise in rabbinic literature. Candidates should be conversant with at least one other chronological period in the study of Judaism beyond their primary area of specialty. Interest and expertise in the history of biblical interpretation and/or Jewish-Christian relations are preferred. The ability and willingness to engage in university-wide or public dialogue about issues of contemporary relevance will be advantageous. The successful candidate will have opportunities to work with and may be invited to teach in Fordham's Medieval Studies Program. Georgetown University - Assistant Professor in Jewish Studies[]

  • Graduate Research Fellowship: 
  • The Center for Jewish History, composed of its five partners (American Jewish Historical Society, American Sephardi Federation, Leo Baeck Institute, Yeshiva University Museum, YIVO Institute for Jewish Research) offers ten month fellowships to doctoral candidates to support original research using the collections at the Center. Preference is given to those candidates who draw on the library and archival resources of more than one partner institution. Fellows must be in residence at the Center from September 2013- June 2014 and applicants should have completed all requirements (coursework, exams, dissertation proposal) for the doctoral degree except for the dissertation.
  • It is required that each fellow spend a minimum of 3 days/week in residence in the Lillian Goldman Reading Room using the archival and library resources.Fellows must also participate in the Center for Jewish History Fellowship Seminar Program, deliver a minimum of one lecture based on research conducted at Center, and submit a report upon completion of the Fellowship describing her/his experience as a Center Fellow
