Job Description Summary:
The successful candidate will combine extra-cellular and intracellular recordings, optical imaging of blood flow and/or calcium signals and optogenetic control of neural actvity in vivo to determine the sources and regulators of cortical activity in infant rats. They should have demonstrated expertise in two or more of the following areas: computational analysis of multi-electrode recordings, whole cell recording in vivo or in slices, visual receptive field mapping in animal models, optical imaging of neural activity, viral expression of calcium indicators or optogenetic tools. They will be required to independently develop analysis methodologies for these recordings using MATLAB and other technical software. They will be expected to attend scientific conferences and participate in the intellectual life of the department and Institute for Neuroscience. A PhD in Neuroscience or a related field is required.

Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in a Neuroscience or related discipline.
Familiarity with one or more of the following: patch clamp eletrophysiology, computational analysis of neural activity, viral expresion of transgenes, imaging of neuronal activity.

James Madison University -- Assistant Professor Psychology/Neuroscience[]

General Info: The Department of Psychology is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin August 2014 whose emphasis is in the area of Behavioral Neuroscience. A scholar who utilizes comparative models in understanding behavior is preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities: Primary teaching responsibilities will include regularly teaching our undergraduate Biopsychology course. Additional teaching responsibilities will include courses within the faculty member's areas of expertise and interest that are needed by our department such as a neuroscience-related capstone seminar or laboratory experience, Comparative Animal Behavior, Drugs and Behavior, Statistics, Research Methods or General Education courses. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an active program of scholarship that involves students in research. Supervision of honors projects and independent study projects are typical components of a faculty member's assignment. Our faculty serve as academic advisors to Psychology majors and contribute to service activities of the department and university.

Qualifications: The minimum qualifications for this position include: completed doctoral degree in Biological Psychology or Behavioral Neuroscience by fall 2014; prior college teaching experience; strong interest in undergraduate instruction and knowledge of best practices in Psychology Pedagogy and documented history of scholarship and interest in continuing research that engages undergraduate students.

Northeastern -- Postdoctoral Research Associate[]

Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in the area of sensorimotor control and computational neuroscience. Our research is on motor control and learning, with a focus on stability and variability in human sensorimotor systems. Our laboratory is fully equipped with state-of-the-art experimental facilities, including a virtual reality set-up with a robot manipulandum, 3D motion analysis system, force plates, EMG, EEG, TMS, and tDCS. The candidate will get involved in existing research projects but is also encouraged to bring to bear his/her expertise to jointly develop new research directions. The position is for one year, with possible renewal for three years.

The Action Lab is connected with the Departments of Biology, Electrical and Computer Engineering and Physics at Northeastern University as well as the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Complex Systems. Northern Michigan University -- Neuroscience Assistant Professor[]

The Biology Department at Northern Michigan University invites applications for a tenure earning faculty position at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2014. Pomona College -- tenure-track Assistant Professor of Neuroscience[]

The Pomona College Neuroscience Department seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Neuroscience who studies the molecular and cellular mechanisms of neural function. Princeton University -- Postdoctoral Research Associate[]

Position Summary: The Department of Psychology is seeking a postdoctoral research associate. Research focuses on the neural circuits underlying reward and motivation (more information at www.princeton.edu/~iwitten). The techniques used in the lab include electrophysiology and optogenetics. Initial appointment is for one year with possibility of renewal (start date: February 1, 2014). PhD in neuroscience, psychology, biology or a related field is required. Responsibilities & Requirements: The Biomolecular Imaging Cluster is part of an exciting, new initiative, undertaken as part of NY SUNY 2020, to hire 100 faculty members over the next few years to expand teaching and research in emerging fields of study that cut across traditional boundaries of academic disciplines. The interdisciplinary faculty cluster hires are aimed at addressing society's most vexing challenges through the collaboration of natural, life and social sciences; technology; medicine; humanities; policy; business; and the arts. The positions are designated for faculty members whose research and teaching interests are interdisciplinary. The goals of this initiative are to place Stony Brook University strategically on the emerging frontiers of research and knowledge and to enhance our ability to shape new fields of discovery, learning and engagement.

Imaging biological molecules is key to understanding their function, providing a starting point for rational drug design and protein engineering. Stony Brook University's investment in biomolecular imaging includes newly upgraded high-field NMR facilities, world-class computational resources, and proximity to the new third generation synchrotron facility at Brookhaven National Lab (NSLS-II).

The Biomolecular Imaging cluster will recruit a total of five new faculty whose research interests span a range of imaging modalities including NMR spectroscopy, x-ray spectroscopy and imaging, ultrahigh resolution light microscopy, cryo-electron microscopy and positron emission tomography coupled with radiotracer synthesis. Academic appointments for cluster faculty will be based on their areas of research and will be in the Departments of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacological Sciences, and/or Neurobiology and Behavior.

University of Nevada Las Vegas -- Assistant Professor  in neuroscience[]

The Department of Psychology at the University of Nevada Las Vegas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor appointment in neuroscience to begin August 2014. The applicant’s specific research area within neuroscience is open. However, we are particularly interested in candidates with interests in computational neuroscience, or structural/functional brain mapping and connectivity that can add to the department’s existing neuroscience research. University of Puget Sound -- Postdoctoral Researcher in Neuroscience[]

As a part of the NSF Early CAREER award (2013-2018) to Dr. Siddharth Ramakrishnan, A full-time research position is available beginning Fall 2013 for a Postdoctoral Researcher to engage in research on the effects of endocrine disruptors on the development and physiology of neurons controlling reproduction both in the embryo and in adulthood. The position will entail research, animal care and undergraduate research training. This initial appointment is expected to end August 31, 2014, with possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement.

The scope of the project will span developmental neuroscience, neuroendocrinology, neurophysiology and behavior. Building upon previous work by the Principal Investigator (PI), exploring physiology of GnRH neurons in the developing embryo (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2922451/) and the developmental impact of Bisphenol A on fish development (www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0890623807002961), the project aims to understand the development of the GnRH neuron circuitry from embryo to adults. Using elegant transgenic fish models, the GnRH neuron system and its physiology will be characterized under normal conditions and also in the presence of endocrine disruptors such as BPA.

This position will offer the postdoctoral scholar an excellent research experience, as well as opportunities to interact with, and mentor undergraduate research students. Opportunities will also be provided for gaining classroom-teaching experience, with feedback/mentorship provided by both the PI, and other members of the Biology faculty. Candidates looking for an independent research environment with added experience of working in a Liberal Arts setting will gain a lot from this position. The University of Puget Sound is an undergraduate Liberal Arts College. In addition to the lab dedicated to the PI, the University also has a state of the art microscopy suite with confocal, SEM and TEM scopes, dedicated animal care facilities and behavioral labs. University of Utah -- assistant professor level in DEVELOPMENTAL NEUROSCIENCE[]

The Department of Psychology at the University of Utah invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level in DEVELOPMENTAL NEUROSCIENCE. We are seeking individuals with a strong human-based neuroscience research program. We especially welcome applicants with interests in the developmental sequelae of early stress exposure, and whose work encompasses epigenetic approaches. University of Wisconsin, Madison -- Senior Lecturer[]

Principal duties:
We are looking for a Senior Lecturer in 720 - Human Physiology. The principal duties of the position are as follows: Preparation, writing and delivery of lectures in Gastrointestinal and Respiratory Physiology. The developed curriculum should include in-class active learning exercises, which involve clinical applications. Preparing, setting up and running 3, 3-hours laboratories designed to demonstrate respiratory function, either using the medical students themselves as subjects, or incorporating computer simulation software. Writing and administering exam and quiz questions to assess student learning. Holding 3-4 office hours per week, to give students the opportunity to ask questions about the material.

Virginia Tech -- Senior Level Neuroscientist[]

The College of Science at Virginia Tech, in support of the university's strategic plan, is expanding its research presence in: Energy and the Environment, Infectious Diseases, Nanoscience, Neuroscience, Computational and Visualization & Pattern Recognition through interdisciplinary faculty hires across departments. As part of this initiative, the Department of Psychology invites applications for a senior position in Neuroscience.
