The Department of Quantitative Theory & Methods at Emory University invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track faculty member with a specialization in quantitative methods of humanities research to begin Fall 2023.

We seek an exceptional, active researcher in any humanities discipline (or allied field, such as information studies or computer science) with strong interdisciplinary experience. The successful applicant will teach courses in quantitative methods and their applications in their discipline at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. We are especially interested in applicants with expertise in computational text analysis, computational image/audio/video analysis, humanities data analysis, and/or cultural analytics. The position is fully funded 9-month tenure-track, and open with respect to rank. The teaching load is competitive. A Ph.D. is required by time of appointment.

QTM is a new and rapidly growing interdisciplinary department at Emory with faculty from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds including biology, computer science, economics, English, operations research, political science, public health, sociology, and statistics. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence (or the promise of excellence) in research and teaching, as well as a strong ability to teach and mentor a diverse student body. The successful candidate will also demonstrate an interest in contributing to QTM’s intellectual mission. The School of Modern Languages invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Comparative Literature. You will be a scholar with a growing international research reputation in comparative literature, as well as a commitment to delivering high quality teaching. Ideally, your comparative research will include expertise in studies relating to at least one of the eight languages taught in the School (Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Persian, Russian, and Spanish). The successful candidate will be expected to have a range of interests, to be active in research publication that strengthens or complements those in the School and to be capable of teaching the subject to undergraduate and taught postgraduate students from a wide range of backgrounds.   

Candidates should hold a PhD in a cognate discipline. Excellent teaching skills and an interest in promoting knowledge exchange are essential. You should also have some familiarity with grant seeking processes in relation to research councils and other sources.

The Citadel (Charleston, SC) - Assistant Professor, Tenure Track Position: Communications and Media (Deadline 11/11/2022)[]

The Department of English, Fine Arts, and Communications at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the areas of Communications and Media starting August 2023. We particularly welcome applications from teacher-scholars with interests in digital media, public writing and speaking, and/or the broader fields of modern strategic communications. The standard teaching load is four courses per semester, and candidates should be committed to teaching existing Communications courses and special-topics freshman seminars. Candidates should also be willing to create new courses to expand our Communications offerings.

The University Writing Program is a thriving, independent unit offering a wide range of writing-intensive courses in areas such as themed critical thinking and writing, discipline-focused writing, and professional writing. The position requires a Ph.D. in Composition and Rhetoric or in a related content area.

Teaching experience in one or more of the following areas is required: Scientific Writing, Public Communication, Digital Humanities, or Environmental Rhetoric. Professional experience will also be considered. Preferred qualifications include a strong interest in experiential learning, such as establishing student exchanges, leading study abroad courses, or pursuing community-based outreach. The teaching assignment is 4/3 with possible course release for the development of significant experiential learning initiatives.
