Idaho State University (USA:ID) - Early American, pref. African-American/Native American

  • Tenure track assistant professorship in Early American History, to begin Aug. 2019
  • The area of specialization is early American History. Preference will be given to applicants working in African American History or Native American History, and who have experience in digital humanities and methods in teaching history pedagogy.
  • PhD must be in hand by 1 Aug. 2019
  • We seek candidates who demonstrate a commitment to effective teaching, a growing record of peer-reviewed publications, and potential for successful external grant funding.
  • Teaching: The successful candidate will contribute to the existing undergraduate and graduate curricula, delivered in live, broadcast, and online formats, and will routinely teach HIST 4418 U.S. History for Teachers. Advising, recruitment, and assessment of undergraduate majors in History and Education (with a History or Social Studies emphasis) and graduate students is essential.
  • Review begins: 7 Sept. 2018
  • Our intent is to conduct interviews by Skype in October and to invite finalists for on-campus interviews in November and early December

University of Guam (USA:GU) - U.S. History, pref. colonialism/imperialism [Open Rank]

  • 9 month Assistant Professor to Associate Professor (History), to begin 22 Jan. 2019
  • Teaching load: 12 contact hours/semester (faculty may request for the Dean’s approval of a .25 load allocation for research, instructional innovation, or service) including (1) teach courses in U.S. history; (2) teach survey courses in World History
  • Minimum Qualifications: Earned Ph.D. in U.S. History or closely related discipline from a U.S. regionally accredited institution or foreign equivalent. Degree must be in hand by the expected start date of January 22, 2019. Must be willing to teach online.Preferred Qualifications: (1) Subfield in regionally relevant area such as Spanish Empire, Japanese Imperialism, or Philippine History; (2) Ability to teach and develop courses in American foreign policy, colonialism, and imperialism; (3) Ability to teach and develop courses in World History; (4) Ability to teach courses in historiography and research methods; (5) Interest in expanding and/or developing a regionally-oriented research agenda; and (6) Experience working with online learning programs.
  • Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience relevant to the position. The following salary figures are for nine (9) months: Assistant Professor: $39,473 – $68,237 Per Academic Year; Associate Professor: $43,703 – $77,498 Per Academic Year.
