  • one-year visiting assistant professor position in early U.S. History (1776 to 1877) with a specialty in African American history for 2022-2023, with possibility of renewal for the subsequent academic year
  • Teaching Load ~3/2 The position requires teaching two history courses in Fall 2022 (African Diaspora in the U.S. to 1877 and U.S. History to 1865) as well as teaching a section of the College’s interdisciplinary Core 1 according to a shared syllabus. In Spring 2023, two courses will be offered that will reflect the visiting professor’s specialties. Advising senior theses is also expected

  • We are especially interested in candidates who can offer courses in indigenous history...We also welcome candidates who are prepared to collaborate in curricular development with colleagues in fields outside of the humanities, such as economics, business, and environmental studies.

  • Teaching: Candidates should be prepared to teach both halves of the introductory US history surveys (to 1876 and since 1876) and to offer upper division courses in their area of expertise.
