The Film & Media Studies Program at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in digital media studies at the Assistant Professor level to begin in the fall semester of 2025.
We seek scholars with expertise in the humanistic study of digital media. Possible areas of specialization include digital infrastructures, platforms, streaming, histories of technology, video games, AI, algorithmic culture, climate and environmental justice, mis/disinformation, and information access. FMS welcomes a diverse set of approaches including, but not limited to, global/transnational perspectives, archival and historiographic research, cultural analytics, and critical race, feminist, and queer frameworks. The successful candidate will be expected to rotate an introduction to digital media studies course into the program’s existing media studies curriculum.
Candidates must have Ph.D. in media studies, communication, or related field in hand no later than August 1, 2025, as well as an active research agenda and a commitment to excellent teaching.
