Harvard Business School (USA:MA)

  • Tenure Track Position in History, to begin 1 Jul. 2023
  • While candidates may study any geographic region or time period, we are especially looking for scholars whose research focuses on one or more of the following areas: business-government relations, economic development, democratic governance, international institutions and/or international relations, law, political economy, public policy, and trade.
  • All applicants should have excellent academic credentials and a demonstrated potential for conducting outstanding research. The School is particularly interested in applicants with interdisciplinary interests and a strong record of, or potential for, excellence in teaching.
  • Teaching: Successful candidates will, at the outset, teach a required first-year MBA course on the economic, political, and social environment of business.
  • Applications should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, description of research-in-progress, published articles or working papers, dissertation chapters or other writing samples, statement of teaching interests and, if applicable, teaching evaluations. In addition, three confidential letters of recommendation are required, which should be submitted through the online portal by the referees.

University of Aarhus (DEN) - [Senior Hire]

  • Full professorship within the field of history. The position is permanent and is available from 1 January 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter.
  • The position is an open one and we welcome applications from candidates working in any field related to the department’s current strengths (see below). The professor will take a leading role in the future development of our thriving research and educational environment. Candidates will be able to document excellence in historical research and an outstanding publications record. Evidence of success in gaining external research funding and experience of managing research projects is an advantage, as is the ability to nurture international collaboration. The professor will also be expected to take an active role in supervising and supporting early career scholars, in knowledge dissemination and in teaching at BA and MA level.
  • Most of the department’s BA and MA teaching is conducted in Danish, but applicants must also be able to teach and supervise in English at university level. Applicants who are not fluent in Danish will be expected to acquire the language within a period of approximately two years.

Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (NDL) - Global Economic and Social History, pref. Environmental

  • Assistant Professor (tenure track) Global Economic and Social History of the period 1800-present, with a focus on environmental history.
  • We are especially interested in candidates whose geographic area of expertise lies in Africa or Asia. The prospective candidate has a proven academic record as apparent from academic publications and contributions to public debate.
  • Teaching: When hired, you will play a central role in teaching the courses offered in the programs Global Economic and Social History (GESH) and Environmental and Water History. You can also be asked to teach general History and History and International Studies courses. You will have the freedom to redesign elements of the courses, according to your interests and qualities, and in close consultation with the director of studies. 30% of your time is available for research, for presenting at conferences and publishing, as well as for writing grant proposals.
