The successful candidate will be expected to teach existing courses, and to develop new survey and topical courses in Indigenous History; mentor and supervise honours and graduate students at the MA and PhD levels; and provide support for the Certificate in Indigenous Studies. The successful candidate will respectfully engage with Indigenous communities and support Memorial’s work towards Indigenization and reconciliation (see Memorial’s Strategic Framework for Indigenization and RIIG policy).

Teaching: undergraduate courses within the major and GE, including the two semester survey sequence in World History. Offer undergraduate courses in Pacific history (survey and area of specialization). Contribute to history program courses in historiography and research methods. Contribute to Pacific Islands Studies Certificate.

Senior Lecturer in History
The area of focus for this Senior Lecturer opportunity will be Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history; Australian colonial history; and/or comparative colonial/imperial or Indigenous histories.
To be successful you will need: A PhD in History or a cognate discipline; An excellent track-record of high-quality research publications in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history; Australian colonial history; and/or comparative colonial/imperial or Indigenous histories; Experience of or capacity to teach and course coordinate in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander History and/or Australian colonial History; Experience supervising Honours and postgraduate research projects; Experience of or strong potential for success in competitive grant funding applications.
