Memorial University of Newfoundland (CAN) - Indigenous History[]

  • full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Indigenous History.
  • Areas of specialization open.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to teach existing courses, and to develop new survey and topical courses in Indigenous History; mentor and supervise honours and graduate students at the MA and PhD levels; and provide support for the Certificate in Indigenous Studies. The successful candidate will respectfully engage with Indigenous communities and support Memorial’s work towards Indigenization and reconciliation (see Memorial’s Strategic Framework for Indigenization and RIIG policy).

  • minimum requirements; Ph.D. in History (or related discipline) by December 31, 2023, from an accredited college or university. Experience teaching Pacific, Hawaiian, AND/OR World history.
  • Teaching: undergraduate courses within the major and GE, including the two semester survey sequence in World History. Offer undergraduate courses in Pacific history (survey and area of specialization). Contribute to history program courses in historiography and research methods. Contribute to Pacific Islands Studies Certificate.
