  • Job Description: Berklee College of Music is now accepting applications for the position of Chair of the Percussion Department. Located in Boston, Massachusetts, Berklee is the world's largest independent music college and the premier institution for the study of contemporary music. The Berklee community consists of 4,500 talented and diverse students, 630 internationally respected faculty, over 500 dedicated staff, and an extended family of alumni, whose numerous Grammy awards testify to their contributions to the music of our time.
  • The Percussion Department includes 10 full-time and 25 part-time faculty, providing private percussion lessons and lab instruction to over 640 Berklee students. Departmental curriculum for drum set, vibraphone, marimba, hand percussion, steel pan and orchestral percussion principals supports the development of good technical facility, intensive training in sight -reading, the understanding of drum rudiments and their use in all styles of performance, improvisational skills, stylistic interpretation, and overall performance skills as applied to contemporary percussion styles. This is a twelve-month position. Initial appointment is for three years and will start June 1, 2017 or September 1, 2017 depending on availability. Compensation is commensurate with rank and professional experience.
  • Candidates should be experienced educators and effective administrators, preferably with a background of successful employment in a collegiate setting. Thorough understanding of all contemporary musical styles and national recognition as a performing artist are required. A Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience is required.

Colorado Christian University: Adjunct/Affiliate Percussion/Drumline Instructor (Deadline: Open until filled)[]

  • Description: Colorado Christian University is currently looking for a qualified instructor to teach percussion and drumline at the undergraduate level at our main campus location in Lakewood as an affiliate faculty member. The Affiliate faculty are experienced professionals, contracted on a course-by-course basis, as needed. CCU's affiliate faculty members will integrate their evangelical Christian faith in the classroom leaders.
  • Other possible course includes: Percussion Techniques and Pedagogy
  • Duties and Responsibilities: Teach half-hour or hour long lessons to students on a weekly basis (arranged around your schedule and the student's schedule). Prepare students for the jury at the end of the semester and for open student recitals throughout the semester. Prepare students for half and full recitals throughout their program.   • The Sunderman Conservatory at Gettysburg College seeks a creative percussionist with an established performing and/or teaching career to develop a studio of undergraduate percussion students and provide an artistic model through solo and ensemble performance.

  • The Department of Music at Graceland University is seeking a full-time, Visiting Assistant Professor of Music on the Lamoni, IA campus beginning in August 2017. The successful candidate will teach Applied Percussion, direct the Graceland University Marching Band, Drumline and Percussion Ensemble, teach the Percussion Methods course, display a strong commitment to recruiting, developing, and retaining outstanding instrumental music students, and teach additional courses in the music curriculum according to the candidate’s qualifications and departmental needs.

  • Job Summary: Oversees and manages the Jacobs School of Music percussion instrument collection. Maintains and repairs percussion instrument inventory; ensures all instruments are kept at concert ready standard; provides full annotated inventory annually. 
Designs and builds new and custom instruments to meet special needs. 
Monitors collection; lends out instruments as part of outfitting orchestras, bands, and ensembles; maintains accurate records of each instrument’s location; coordinates instrument availability between musical groups; and responds to calls and inquiries regarding availability. Supervises and assists with equipment moves.

Excellence in research is required as demonstrated by evidence of solo performances in major venues, collaborations with major artists and ensembles, public presence through broadcasts and recordings, recognition through critical reception, positive reviews and arts grant support, as well as strong endorsements by referees of high international standing. The successful candidate will also have expertise in at least one complementary area, such as chamber music, orchestral performance, contemporary music, world music, improvisation, and music production.
