- The Division of Medical Humanities & Bioethics in the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry (URSMD) seeks to recruit an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level faculty member for a position, tenure track. The Division of Medical Humanities & Bioethics cultivates humanistic, empathic, and ethically driven healthcare rooted in the biopsychosocial principles. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary faculty group with training in bioethics, the history of medicine, narrative medicine, and the visual arts. The faculty engage in scholarship, research, clinical and community service, and the teaching of graduate students and medical and other health professions trainees.
- Candidates must have an excellent record of quality teaching and scholarship, including a demonstration of a strong scholarly career track. PhD or JD required. Additional clinical degree, bioethics credentialing, and experience in an academic health center preferred. - Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Teaching in existing medical school courses and Medical Humanities & Bioethics electives; Teaching, or co-teaching, one course in the Master's in Medical Humanities Program; Directing the URSMD Bioethics Pathway Program; Advising student-run bioethics interest groups; Working with the Director of the Division of Medical Humanities and the Director of the Clinical Bioethics Program to organize meetings, conferences, and educational outreach programs; Develop a research program that leads to presentations at national meetings and publications in peer-reviewed journals; Mentoring students in undergraduate and graduate medical programs

Position Description:
The Dean of the Suomi College of Arts and Sciences (SCAS) is the chief academic and administrative officer for the largest academic unit at Finlandia University in respect to course enrollments and number of faculty. Key among the many dimensions of the Dean’s role is that of providing leadership for the College’s faculty, departmental strategic planning, guiding academic program planning, recruitment, retention, program assessment/review, resource allocation, and directs the College’s budget and administrative services. The Dean is the College’s principal representative to other units of the University and to appropriate external groups and individuals.
The SCAS Dean guides people and programs that encompass undergraduate study in the Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, Sciences, and Humanities programs. The Dean participates in developing and sustaining the curriculum within the College and is responsible for the review and delivery of General Education, including curriculum assessments, program review, and improvements that serve all academic programs across campus. The Dean works directly with the faculty, admissions, academic support, and VPAA. The SCAS Dean reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs. The SCAS Dean is a member of the Academic Council, chairs campus committees as assigned, and participates in other University matters as assigned by the VPAA.
Required Qualifications:
1. A terminal degree and rank of associate or full professor in a discipline within the arts and sciences.
2. A record of academic achievement appropriate for a senior faculty appointment in one of the disciplines represented in the College.
3. Experience at the department chair or dean level.
4. Collegial, consultative management style, combined with the ability to be strong and decisive.
5. Demonstrated leadership and management skills, with particular strengths in strategic planning, organization, data analysis and interpretation, and assessment.
6. Strong advocacy skills, coupled with a well-developed institutional perspective.
7. Vision, creativity, and resourcefulness.

Postdoctoral Research Scholar in Explaining Differential Success in Biodiversity Knowledge Commons[]
The School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University invites applications for a full-time, fiscal-year appointment as a Postdoctoral Research Scholar. We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to participate in a research project describing and explaining differential outcomes among collaborative, distributed communities of scientists leading biodiversity data commons on a shared software platform. The postdoc will lead ASU projects within the context of a collaborative grant between ASU and Purdue University to investigate the structures, functions, and outcomes of multi-institutional collaborations to digitize, curate and publish observations of biological species from museum collections and citizen science projects. The postdoc will work collaboratively to collect data from qualitative interviews and surveys of biodiversity scientists and stakeholders for the data commons and analyze these data with other quantitative measures of the properties and outcomes. The project PI, Beckett Sterner, is an expert in history and philosophy of data science and faculty in ASU’s School of Life Sciences (SOLS). Project Co-PIs are Zoe Nyssa, an anthropologist of conservation science at Purdue University, and Steve Elliott, who studies the economics, social organizations, and reasoning strategies of research and is affiliated with ASU’s Center for Gender Equity in Science and Technology. The qualified candidate is anticipated to start January 1, 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Essential duties
1. Conduct qualitative interviews with scientists.

3. Analyze interview and survey data to characterize properties of portals, e.g. as socio-technical infrastructure and communities of practice
4. Write scientific papers associated with the research.

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications
· Successful candidates must have at the time of appointment an earned doctorate in a relevant field, including (in alphabetical order): anthropology, biodiversity, bioinformatics, critical data studies, computer science, data science, history and philosophy of science, organizational science, sociology, science and technology studies, and related disciplines.
· Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate training and expertise, either through research or coursework, in qualitative data collection and analysis.
· Successful candidates must show demonstrated success or evidence to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams, a strong record of scholarly achievement, and excellent communication skills.
Desired qualifications
Desired qualifications include a track record of coursework or research experience in one or more of the following skills:
· Survey design and analysis
· Quantitative social network analyses with large data sets
· Quantitative studies of online social communities, e.g. editing behaviors of Wikipedia contributors or issue management in open source software projects
· Data collection and analysis for systematic reviews of published and gray literatures
· Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA)
· Biodiversity data analysis
