2. Please mark the title of the position using the H3 header.

3. Please include the deadline and a web link to the ad/website; PLEASE follow the format of other entries.

4. For logging comments or updates, please begin your entry with a bullet point. Each entry should have a separate line.

5. For substantive comments or updates about status, interaction, etc., please include the date at the beginning of your entry so that users can scan the info quickly for new entries.

6. Please do not post names in "Accepted Offers" until an offer has actually been accepted. Do not post a name if an offer has merely been extended, as this is not fair to the candidate's students, or to the candidate him/herself, who may need to negotiate with his/her current institution, etc. Ideally names will only be posted on the wiki by the candidate him/herself, after accepting an offer, or by a third party with some corroborating evidence (university press release, link to successful candidate's website with announcement, etc), but I know that's not always possible since people hear things through social media or word of mouth. • The successful candidate is expected to pursue a continued performing career and contribute to the musical life of the School of Music.   • 3/18 So many pianists are fantastic players but lame teachers.  I watched a few ASU student performance videos and the level of playing is not quite top-shelf.  These are students who need detailed technical and musical guidance, not just clichés and platitudes.

Augustana College is a selective liberal arts college of approximately 2,500 students, most of whom live on a wooded 115-acre campus. In any case, that type of information does not belong on this site in relation to a specific job posting.    
• 6/5 The internal candidate resigned on short notice before the finalists were on campus.  I know this as fact. Either the committee was not happy with the initial three finalists leading to the augmented size of the finalist list, or they were intentionally using a larger applicant pool from the outset to teach their students over the course of the semester given that the internal candidate abruptly up and left.  The number of hours the finalists had to spend teaching during the three day interview were significant and the search lasted the majority of the spring semester.  As to comments about gossip, previous iterations of this page mentioned the importance of not mentioning names of candidates who have gotten jobs before they were officially announced.  That is definitely gossip and seems like a boundary to respect.  However, I see this other discussion as something completely different.  This deals with the workings of a search (functional or otherwise) without revealing names of finalists, and the only mention of the selected candidate was made after that info was publicly available.  This additional information is what makes the webpage valuable, IMO.  Otherwise, all this website is is a combination on CMS, Higheredjobs.com, and Chronicle.

As that might be due to a personal or professional issue, it is certainly an internal matter, I think that should be respected as a boundary too. We need to be careful about what we imply, as the internal candidate has a reputation too, as a very well-respected pianist and teacher. IMO, I don't like these kind of eyebrow raising comments being on this page.

• Duties: The successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will include complete musical preparation and oversight, including production management, of all opera productions. The applicant must be a strong pianist and have facility with Italian, German, and French languages and diction. The successful candidate will be a musician of the highest caliber with a broad knowledge of the operatic literature and knowledge of repertoire suitable for young voices; demonstrate a passionate commitment to the teaching of young students; and demonstrate an ongoing record of creative/scholarly activities.
