4. For logging comments or updates, please begin your entry with a bullet point. Each entry should have a separate line.

5. For substantive comments or updates about status, interaction, etc., please include the date at the beginning of your entry so that users can scan the info quickly for new entries.

6. Please do not post names in "Accepted Offers" until an offer has actually been accepted. Do not post a name if an offer has merely been extended, as this is not fair to the candidate's students, or to the candidate him/herself, who may need to negotiate with his/her current institution, etc. Ideally names will only be posted on the wiki by the candidate him/herself, after accepting an offer, or by a third party with some corroborating evidence (university press release, link to successful candidate's website with announcement, etc), but I know that's not always possible since people hear things through social media or word of mouth.   • The successful candidate will possess a strong performance profile and college-level teaching experience in applied piano.   • And in this case, the internal had a strong advantage from the beginning.  They liked him and had already decided the job would go to him unless he completely bombed the interview.  Sometimes the accusation of Fake Search does not reflect reality, but this time it probably does.

Dear Car X Man: I totally understand and feel your frustration. As one of the four finalists, I was disappointed, frustrated and saddened when I knew that they hired the internal candidate. But Here are my thoughts: first of all, the internal guy must be a strong candidate, too. It's also unfair to totally ignore that. Secondly, the faculty members there are wonderful musicians and good people, too. It shows how nice they are to offer the job to him and not to kick him off the ship. If there are things to blame, it's the stupid law!!! Such a waste of time and energy for some many people.

Along with performance excellence and proven strong traditional pedagogical technique, the successful candidate should be technologically savvy, have knowledge and experience in contemporary keyboard use and the use of the keyboard in evangelical worship, the ability to teach collaborative piano, chord comping and improvisation, and coach chamber music ensembles as needs arise. Davidson College: Artist Associate In Accompanying (Deadline: Open until filled)[]

University of Chicago: Lecturer: Director of Chamber Music and Artist-in-Residence (keyboard) (Deadline: 25 June 2019) CANCELED[]

The University of Chicago Department of Music seeks a part-time Lecturer in Chamber Music (keyboard) to serve as Director of Chamber Music and Artist-in-Residence.

Reports to: Director of Performance Programs

  • Duties: coordinate and oversee the Department's well-established chamber-music program, which functions as an integral part of the comprehensive Musical Performance Program; coach chamber music ensembles and advanced piano students on a regular basis; coordinate coaching assignments for other part-time performance faculty; offer at least one major concert (solo recital or concerto performance) on campus each season, as well as occasional informal recitals, as appropriate to the Artist-in-Residence status of the position; coach musicianship skills and oversee musicianship exams for graduate students in the Department of Music. Additional duties include minor committee service (for annual music lesson awards, biennial concerto competition, and minimal extra projects).

The successful candidate will work within a large, well-established co-curricular performance program at the University of Chicago, which involves over 700 talented young musicians (most of whom are not music majors) in eighteen different performance ensembles and programs. The appointed candidate will work closely with the Director of Performance Programs and Director of Chamber Music on future planning and strategic development of the Chamber Music Program.

Qualifications Requisite Qualifications: M.M. required; D.M.A. strongly preferred. Other required qualifications include: outstanding record of performance of solo piano repertoire, from common practice through contemporary periods; significant experience in chamber music performance, as well as broad knowledge of chamber music repertoire; evidence of successful student coaching at an undergraduate level. A strong academic background in music history and theory is preferred, as well as understanding of the precepts of a broad liberal arts education. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

The peak search cycles in terms of numbers were 2014-2017; since most of those TT positions were filled, I doubt that there will be many new openings for the next few years. It sucks, but the market truly does fluctuate.
