Anderson University seeks a founding faculty member for its recently approved BA program in Political Science. The successful candidate will have a record of effective teaching and advising experience and a commitment to recruiting students and developing a Political Science curriculum. Field of specialization is open, but the position entails teaching a variety of introductory and upper-division courses in American Politics.  A Ph.D. in Political Science is required. Rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

RUTGERS UNIVERSITY-NEW BRUNSWICK - TT Assistant Professor of Marine Social Sciences and Policy/Human Ecology Department

The Department of Human Ecology at Rutgers University School of Environmental and Biological Sciences invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor – AY in marine social sciences and policy. The successful candidate will establish an innovative program of scholarship, teaching, and service dealing with marine issues conceived broadly, and should be comfortable working with interdisciplinary teams to bridge the social and natural sciences. The candidate should possess a Ph.D. or equivalent in one of the social sciences (anthropology, geography, sociology, political science, economics, environmental studies, or related fields), focused on marine issues in either domestic or international settings, and have proven experience applying social science methods to significant marine issues.

The successful candidate should show potential to successfully obtain and manage grants to support research activities and maintain a record of scholarly publications. Research topics of interest for this position might include human dimensions of marine resource management; coupled socio-ecological marine systems and/or ecosystem services; ocean conservation and/or marine protected areas; sustainable use and management of marine resources and fisheries; governance, institutions and/or socio-economics of marine issues; equity and access for marine-dependent communities; law and policy dealing with small island states; climate change impacts on marine resources and communities; offshore development, pollution and environmental impacts; and other related topics. The candidate should be comfortable working with and leveraging interdisciplinary teams to bridge the social and natural sciences in marine issues, such as working with faculty in the Department of Marine and Coastal Sciences, the Institute of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, and the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Natural Resources at Rutgers, as well as with a new Center for Fisheries and Ocean Sustainability. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses within the curriculum of the Environmental Policy, Institutions, and Behavior undergraduate major, such as courses on natural resources policy; marine policy, governance and institutions; or human dimensions of marine conservation, among other topics (see curriculum at:http://humanecology.rutgers.edu/epibcourses.asp), and may also engage with related teaching minors, such as minors in Sustainability and in Fisheries. The successful candidate will also be encouraged to work with graduate students in other departments across the School and University through participation in Graduate Faculty appointments. Western Washington University (WA) - Assistant Professor, African American Politics

About the Position: The Political Science Department and the American Cultural Studies Program at Western Washington University invite applications for a tenure-track position in African American Politics at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning in September 2018. The tenure line will reside in Political Science. Teaching responsibilities will be divided between Political Science and American Cultural Studies. 

Position Responsibilities:

The position requires teaching at both introductory and advanced undergraduate levels; an active research program; and service to the Political Science department, ACS, the university and to the profession. Teaching will include introductory and specialized courses in ACS, an upper division course in African American Politics, and advanced courses in the candidate’s area of specialization. Required Qualifications:

• Doctorate or ABD in Political Science or related fields, with expected completion by June 15, 2019

• Specialization in one of the following: African American political behavior, African Americans and American Political Development, African Americans and American Political Institutions, or African American Political Thought

• Ability to effectively teach introductory and upper division courses in American Politics, including advanced courses in African American Politics and related areas

• Ability to effectively teach introductory and upper division courses in American Cultural Studies

• Ability to teach introductory research methods/social statistics

• Ability to conduct high quality scholarship in the area of African American Politics

• Ability to work and interact with culturally diverse student organizations and academic programs

• Ability to work effectively within a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff

Preferred Qualifications: Ability to pursue a methodologically intersectional approach to African American politics

MILLS COLLEGE, OAKLAND, CA -- Assistant Adjunct Professor of Public Policy

The Department of Public Policy and Political Science in the Lokey School of Business and Public Policy at Mills College, Oakland, California, invites applications for a full-time, multi-year adjunct faculty position in Public Policy, to begin in August 2018. The successful candidate will be expected to teach five courses per year at the undergraduate and master's levels, including an introduction to public policy, methods of social science research and policy analysis, and substantive policy courses in two or more domestic or international areas, such as economic development, gender and racial equity, health, housing, human rights, immigration, information technology, local governance, nonprofit management, or social service delivery.

Candidates should have a demonstrated capacity to be excellent teachers, academic advisors, and productive scholars in the liberal arts college context. Candidates must have academic training in public policy analysis (such as a Ph.D. in Public Policy or a related field).  A Master of Public Policy degree and/or experience as a policy practitioner in government or the nonprofit sector would be advantageous. Candidates' ongoing research agendas should include work that is policy-relevant as well as scholarly.
