Aarhus University (Denmark) - Associate Professor - Russian Studies

We are seeking an innovative and dedicated person who will contribute to Aarhus University’s core activities in the areas of research, education, talent development and knowledge exchange. We are particularly interested in applicants with broad cultural studies research profile in particular the Soviet and post-Soviet eras of the 20th and 21st centuries.

The successful candidate will join the Eastern European Studies programme, which cooperates closely with in European, International and a number of programmes in Area Studies that are part of the Department of Global Studies. While anchored in Eastern European Studies, we expect the successful applicant to teach and develop activities at a broader departmental level. Columbia University (NY) - Open Rank Position - Russian Literature

The Department of Slavic Languages at Columbia University announces an open rank position in Russian literature and culture. The position may be filled at any rank from Assistant Professor to Professor with tenure. We are looking for a colleague with energy, vision, and a truly outstanding record in both scholarship and teaching, whose innovative research will complement the Department's existing strengths and attract graduate students of the highest caliber. The ideal candidate will be a newly tenured faculty or someone who will soon be considered for tenure. While the period of specialization is open, expertise in the 20th or 21st century is especially desirable, as is the ability to teach poetry, film, or visual culture. The successful candidate will be expected to sustain an active research and publication agenda and teach in our undergraduate and graduate programs.

Harvard University (MA) - TT Assistant Professor of Russian Literature and Culture and of Comparative Literature

The Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures and the Department of Comparative Literature seek to appoint a tenure-track assistant professor in Russian literature and culture with broad comparative interests. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2018. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, typically two courses per semester, including required and elective courses in Russian and comparative literature, as well as freshman seminars. We are seeking an energetic colleague who will be committed to building our programs in literature and the humanities, one ready to share in advising students as well as participating fully in the intellectual life of the university.

Candidates may specialize in any area of modern Russian literature and culture, including fiction, documentary prose, poetry, film, theory, the performing arts, and visual culture. Macalester College (MN) - TT Asst. Professor - Russian Studies

The Department of Russian Studies at Macalester College announces an opening for a tenure-track position in Russian Studies, to begin in Fall 2018, at the rank of Assistant Professor (in an exceptional case, a more advanced appointment may be considered). Applicants should have a PhD at the time of appointment in the field of Russian history, culture, or related subjects and possess native or near-native proficiency in Russian and English. The successful candidate, whose tenure home would be in Russian Studies, would teach Russian language as well as courses that would cover Russia and the neighboring region historically. Scholarly promise, college teaching experience, an interdisciplinary approach to the teaching of Russian Studies, strong interest in teaching language, and knowledge of current pedagogical methodologies are highly desirable.

The position entails teaching five courses per year, including two Russian language courses per year and three others, at least two of which can be cross-listed with the History department. We are looking for dynamic, broadly trained, theoretically informed scholar-teachers with training in historical inquiry, who are committed to the study of Russian history and culture as an integral part of the undergraduate liberal arts curriculum. The successful candidate will join Macalester’s Russian Studies faculty in active program building.

Ohio State University (OH) - TT Asst. Professor - Migration and Diaspora Studies in East/Central European and Russian Literatures and Cultures

Description: The Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures is seeking to fill a tenure-track position in Migration and Diaspora Studies in East/Central European and Russian literatures and cultures. Viable candidates should have a background in the migration of persons and ideas across and outside of the region, as well as work in East European/Russian diaspora communities and their literatures/cultures, and in translation and interpreting of languages and literatures/cultures. We are particularly interested in candidates who explore the intersection of migration and narrative studies, migration and oral histories, interpretation as a skill, and languages in the professional spheres. This position is partially funded by Ohio State's Discovery Themes, a significant faculty hiring investment in key thematic areas in which the university can build on its culture of academic collaboration to make a global impact.

Qualifications: The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent language skills in Russian and an additional Slavic (Central European) language, or excellent language skills in any other two Slavic (Central or East European) languages, as well as experience teaching in a North American academic setting. Preferred qualifications include program experience, university teaching experience and experience mentoring members of underrepresented groups. Reed College (OR) - TT Asst. Professor - Russian and Humanities

The Russian department at Reed College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment in Russian and the Humanities, preferably at the Assistant Professor rank, to commence August 2018. Our strong preference is for a teacher-scholar specializing in pre-twentieth century Russian literature. Expertise in an additional scholarly field (e.g., comparative literature, film/media studies, gender studies, postcolonial studies, ecocriticism) is desirable. Boston College (MA) - Visiting Assistant Professor of Slavic Studies

Boston College seeks a candidate for a visiting position in the Department of Slavic and Eastern Languages and Literatures, with strong training in Russian language and culture and specialization in Slavic Studies. Special consideration will be given to individuals with expertise in Polish, Czech, or Ukrainian. In addition to mastery of another Slavic language and broad knowledge of Slavic philology, cultural history, and language pedagogy, the successful candidate will possess native or near-native fluency in Russian and English, and demonstrate the ability to teach at a North American university and at all levels of instruction. The candidate will have a Ph.D. in Slavic Languages and Literatures by the time of appointment in July 2018.
