  • Assistant Prof TT, Midwest, Regional Campus of Public R1 University, $63,000 9-month contract (negotiated up from $60,000 offer), 4/4 load, optional summer teaching paid extra (~$7000 for one online course), tech provided with replacements every five years, $1600 stipend for conference travel (plus additional funds available through college-wide funding, etc.), good healthcare benefits, state pension plan, union. Male/white.

Salaries for WPA or WCD Positions starting in AY 2025-26[]

  • Assistant Professor TT in Rhet/Comp & Writing Program Director. Northwest, R1. 9 month contract at $72k (non-negotiable) + $8k guaranteed summer stipend. Female. 2/1 course load (1/1 course load for the first year). Additional Funding: $15k in startup funds distributed across first three years ($5k/year), $1500 to attend CWPA over the summer (negotiated), $1500 for computer, $4500 moving (negotiated), $3k in developmental funds for writing program to be used on NTT professional development workshops (negotiated). Attempted spousal hire, but was unsuccessful. Note: for future WPAs: you can negotiate to include funding or resources for your writing program as part of your contract. The $3k mentioned above is guaranteed funding for the Writing Program that will be used for training, events, etc across the first 3 years. Other resources you might negotiate include: a graduate assistant/grad assistant director, a travel stipend to take students to Cs, funding for other WAC/WID initiatives, or specific trainings/conferences (such as CWPA) that can be funded separate from your own research funds.
  • Assistant Professor TT in English & Writing Center Director (taking over in 2nd year). Midwest. SLAC (private). 9 month contract at $58k (negotiated from $55k) + estimated $4000 summer stipend for administrative work. Female. 4/4 course load (3/4 course load in the first year). 2/2 course load when in administrative role in second year. $900 professional development fund for conferences and professional organizations each year + potential $900 from other campus offices. Tech start up package with institution computer that will be replaced every few years. Up to $5000 moving cost reimbursement or 50% of moving costs (whichever is less per institutional policy).
