There seem to be far fewer applicants monitoring this page than last year. Do we think this is reflective of actual applicant numbers? (9/28/24)
Seems a couple of important posts were missing? Like Boston University and University of Georgia. just an FYI. And what about Utah?

Is the level of detail currently included in the job posts necessary?? It’s overwhelming to me, and makes it very difficult to scroll throgh the list. Last year we used brief descriptions and included links to the full description. How do others feel?? (7/23/24)
- Agreed; it's way too much detail and the most pertinent info is getting lost in a sea of text.
- While I understand the concern about the level of detail in the job posts (and personally agree), I wonder if asking people to edit the existing job descriptions to fit a more concise format might be prohibitive. The additional time and effort to revise and condense these postings rather than just pasting the descriptions might discourage people from updating them regularly. For me, I just need the university/school/department, position, and link to the job posting.
Who is looking forward to doing this again?? Really stoked. Not rethinking my life decisions at all.
- Last year the job market was cruel. Hope this year there will be more jobs.
Not a lot of open job listings out right now... I hear higher ed ran out of stimulus money and now enrollment declines are hitting a lot of schools really hard. Some schools closed or merged departments. Many places are starting up new online programs to compete with everyone else, but it's a limited pool. The top schools in big cities should be okay, but mid or lower tier universities in smaller cities and especially privates or religious schools with a humanities focus will suffer.

- What would be fishy about that? It is common for schools to schedule campus visits WHILE STILL conducting screening interviews. I personally had a campus visit scheduled while that school was still conducting screening interviews for several weeks after my initial screening

Tenure Track Faculty Position (Assistant Professor) - Micro Level Practice
Description
The Department of Sociology at Cal Poly Pomona invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Social Work, appointment effective Fall 2025. The successful candidate will teach courses in social work, with a particular interest in candidates whose teaching, research, and practice experience focus on micro level social work. Antiracist and anti-oppressive perspectives are welcomed additional foci. The position requires excellence in teaching, advising, professional and scholarly achievements, and a commitment to service to the department, university, and community. The successful candidate will demonstrate sensitivity to issues of diversity, including race, ethnicity, gender, class, age, religion, and sexuality. Duties & Responsibilities

Associate Director of Clinical Services, Institute for Innovation in Health and Human Services (Administrative/Teaching)
The Institute for Innovation in Health and Human Services (IIHHS) is accepting applications for a full-time Associate Director of Clinical Services. The Associate Director is a member of the IIHHS Leadership Team and oversees the operations and functioning of 9 clinics housed within CHBS. The Associate Director provides direct supervision of the two full-time staff in the Clinical Billing office, the Child Development Clinic Director, and works closely with Academic Unit Heads in supporting Clinic Directors in the management and administration aspects of clinic operations. Tenure Track Faculty Position (open rank) - Addressing Health Equity in Age-Related Disorders
Description
Rutgers University School of Social Work (RUSSW) invites applications for an open rank tenure-track appointment to begin no later than September 1, 2025. This scholar will be part of the Addressing Health Equity in Age-Related Disorders (AHEAD) cluster hire initiative. The RUSSW seeks a scholar dedicated to advancing excellence in research, teaching, and community engagement with a focus on equity in aging, neurocognitive diversity, Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and mental health in middle and later life. The scholar also will join the RUSSW Hub for Aging Collaboration as a core faculty member.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Social Work or a closely related field. A Master of Social Work with clinical social work practice experience in health (especially in aging, neurodegenerative disorders, and/or dementia) is strongly preferred.
In their cover letter, candidates should address their current interests or activities, as well as contributions to DEI, and/or future goals to promote a climate that values DEI. The cover letter should also include a research statement detailing how the applicant’s research interests align with the AHEAD initiative. The Sandra Rosenbaum School of Social Work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for a tenure track position at the assistant professor level in the field of mental health and social inequalities beginning in August 2025. Accredited by the CSWE, the Social Work Department is housed in the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare in the College of Community Engagement and Professions. The Department confers BSW and MSW degrees, and with the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology, jointly offers a PhD degree in Social Welfare. The doctoral program prepares students for leadership roles such as university faculty, program evaluators, and policy analysts. The MSW program, which offers both online and in-person curricular options, emphasizes generalist practice. In addition, students can complete accredited programming in substance abuse counseling and school social work along with interdisciplinary certificates in trauma-informed care, applied gerontology, and nonprofit management. MSW students can also earn coordinated degrees with various programs such as criminal justice and criminology (CJC).
Job Summary
The Department of Social Work at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee seeks to hire two full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty positions, one at the rank of Assistant Professor and the other to be appointed at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor commensurate with qualifications and experience.
