Sherubtse College (Bhutan) - Spring 2013[]
- The Sherubtse College Department of Sociology is seeking teaching applicants for Spring Semester, 2013. Applicants must hold a minimum of a Master's degree plus 30 graduate credit hours in Sociology. Preference will be given to applicants able to teach with a high degree of excellence in the following areas: General Sociology, Sociological Theory, Sociological Methods (qualitative and/or quantitative), Sociology of Development, Environmental Sociology.
- Sherubtse College (http://www.sherubtse.edu.bt/) is the oldest institution of higher education in Bhutan.Against a dramatic backdrop of the high Himalayan Mountains in the country’s far eastern region, our blossoming three-year college seeks highly qualified and dedicated instructors to enrich our liberal arts program. Successful candidates must teach at least two modules per 16-week semester to undergraduate students. Academic rank and salary designations are based on educational background and amount of teaching and other experience. The minimum contract duration is three academic semesters.
- All applicants should meet the following criteria: 1) Language: You must be able to speak, understand, read and write English in a fluent and highly intelligible manner; 2) Education: You must hold a Ph.D., or a Master's Degree plus 30 graduate credit hours in sociology; 3) Teaching Experience: You must be able to demonstrate excellence in previous undergraduate teaching for a minimum of three cumulative academic years; 4) Teaching Interests: You must have experience teaching basic introductory undergraduate modules and at least one upper division course in the requisite advertised specialty areas; 5) Attitude: You must have a willingness to live and teach for a minimum of three semesters in a unique and rapidly transforming society in which material conditions can sometimes present challenges that are typically outweighed by other rewards.
