The Department of English at East Carolina University (www.ecu.edu/english) is seeking to fill a non-tenure track, one-year (with the possibility of a continuing appointment for a second year) visiting assistant professor level position, specializing in Southern literature and/or 20th century American poetry, to begin August 12, 2013.

This position involves a partnership between the Department of English and Joyner Library's Manuscripts and Rare Books Department. The person hired will teach two classes per semester in composition, Southern literature, and/or 20th century American poetry, especially those writers represented in the Stuart Wright Collection (http://www.ecu.edu/cs-lib/spcloll/stuartwrightcollection.cfm ).

Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of contemporary scholarship and a well-defined research agenda related to materials in this collection The successful candidate will also be expected to involve their students in research within the collection. Appropriate service to the university, community and profession is expected.

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution by August 2013 is required. All degrees should be from appropriately accredited institutions.

he Department of English at Louisiana State University invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track position in Southern Studies. We are particularly interested in applicants working before 1900 and with expertise in the Global South and/or the Caribbean and/or African American literature. The position is open to applicants at any level (assistant professor, associate professor, or full professor), with the rank to be determined by the qualifications of the successful applicant. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in English or related field; evidence of innovation and excellence in teaching and research.

The position has a competitive salary and a very attractive teaching load of undergraduate and graduate courses, typically two courses per semester.
